Controlled By Chaos (And Paint)

When Gotrek asked me if I'd like to contribute to a wargaming, two thoughts popped into my head. The first was "Is he mad?"... As he isn't (noticeably), my second, more rational though was "that means I need to actually finish some stuff!" I'm hoping that by accepting Gotrek's kind invitation will be motivation enough to sit down and complete a few bits and pieces I've been working on.

I first started gaming about 25 years ago when a minor obsession with Airfix became a minor obsession with Space Marines! Blood Bowl and Dark Future soon followed along and I soon had a relatively large (but mostly unpainted) collection of minis. It wasn't long before my keen interest in games became a keen interest in girls and sadly my minis began collecting dust in favour of bass lessons and band practices (a sure fire way of getting girls I thought, incorrectly as it happens), never to see the light of day again :(

I tried to get back into the game in my early 20's and collected a small force of Eldar, but a lack of income is a serious barrier to gaming. This meagre Eldar force was also sadly lost along the way.

My recent foray into the 40k world began when my eldest son started high school and began going to warhammer club with a friend. One thing led to another, I somehow ended up handing over money to a shop assistant in exchange for a Dark Vengeance box set and am now the proud owner of Chaos Marine army which I'm currently building up to be a Slaanesh/Black Legion flavour.

If that wasn't enough, my youngest son has now taken an interest and has started collecting Orks. He's not quite up to painting them yet so that task has fallen to me but he's fiendishly good tactically and has beaten me on more than one occasion,

I've also started making scenery for the first time in my 25 years of gaming and I have to admit I'm now addicted. I'm currently making a wooden bridge (inspired by this one that onlybloodangels did) and the plan is to finish it and write a post about howI made it.

So that about sums me up. I'm not a "tournament gamer" or a "pro painter". I love collecting, painting and gaming and want to have fun while I'm doing it.  I'm going to be using the blog to document my modelling and painting process (wins and facepalms) and hopefully it may be helpful to someone else.

Phew! If made it this far..., I salute you! May Slaanesh grant you the freakiest mutations!

Until next time
