A word on beginnings.
It's been over a week since we started this journey on the path of becoming 'Bloggers' and I've yet to put pen to paper or should I say fingers to keyboard, I have always found it difficult starting something new and writing within public places doubly difficult. For over 27 year I've had an interest in table top and RPG starting with Warhammer 1st edition I still have my first dwarf "Thorgrim Branedimm", until in the early 90's I discovered that 'beer and girls' and wargaming/PRG where almost mutually exclusive, something had to give and as has been mentioned elsewhere on these pages, girls and beer won!
I always kept an eye on what GW was doing but never really ventured back until one of my friends showed me a Forge World Titan and I was hooked once again, waiting for the time when I wold once again take up the mantle; that was about 7 years ago.
Fast forward to about 7 months ago and my Brother in Law mentioned his oldest son was taking up 40k, at that moment a little voice in the back of my head said I'll have a bit of that as it did for others in our group.
The Legion Commander.
After starting two rather substantial armies Necron (40K) and Dark Elf (WFB), I have moved to the Forge World 30k setting. I managed to get my hands on a 2nd hand copy of 'The Horus Heresy Book 1: Betrayal'. The only thing I can say to show the difference between a GW book and a Forge World is: Imagine owning a Jaguar, it's fantastic car but then you get a Aston Martin, the Jaguar is still a fantastic car but is just not in the same league as the latter. Now I needed a Legion after two or three days of intense reading I chose 'The Emperor's Children', what can I say I have a thing for purple and I love their Pre-Heresy fluff. This is the first Legion model I bought.
While browsing the Forge World site I noticed the Cataphractii-pattern Terminator armour and was amazed by the detail and look, I had to have one for my Commander.
The plan is to run them as a loyalist force chapter/company newly raised on the home world while Fulgrim performs 'The Cleansing of Laeran' thus avoiding the majority of the Slaanesh taint from the Laer Temple. This will also exclude me from using the sonic weapons.
Oh my, I've been prattling on for ages, more to follow in the coming weeks.
From the command throne of the Battle Barge 'Emperor's Grace' in Chemos high anchor,
That Praetor looks amazing. Great painting! The Emperors Children certainly have one of the prettier paint schemes. Looking forward to seeing him with a squad or two on the battlefield.
ReplyDeleteI know very little little about the 30k setting, you sir have inspired me to investigate. Great model BTW.
ReplyDeleteCheers mate. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe Horus miniature is truly amazing, and what it and the other primarchs release symbolises is a huge move forward for those wanting to replay the Heresy.
