Right here goes.  Like my fellow bloggers I have table top gaming for longer than I care to remember. I have very fond memories of our early days playing Hero Quest which eventually progressed into Warhammer and pretty much everything Games workshop ever released.  Over the years we have all dipped in and out of playing games, family and distance being the main constraint, but we have always stayed in touch and kept each other up to date with all our nerdy/gaming shenanigans.

In recent months we have started playing again with more fervour.  My army of choice over the last few years has been Orcs and Goblins.  I’d like to believe I have a pretty good grasp of them and enjoy dealing with the random chaos they most often bring to a battlefield.  My biggest regret about using them though is how few of them I have painted.  I have units and units of unpainted goblins and a fair few orcs.  The sheer volume of models feels me with dread every time the thought of cracking open a paint pot enters my head.  To this end I have temporarily given up on the plan to paint them in favour of starting a new army with my first love…………….Dark Elves.

I’m no stranger to dark elves, back in the day I had a fully painted (yes I can finish some things) 6000pt Dark elf army.  The army and I have long since parted ways, as in my infinite wisdom I binned them all when I first met my wife.  The thought that people with girlfriends can still like geeky things hadn’t occurred to me at the time.  If you wish you can all take a moment to think about the true horror of what I did.  As a side note a similar size space marine army as well as smaller Undead, High Elf, Dark Eldar and a few other I have forgotten also met the same fate.
*Face meet palm*.
With that unsightly confession out the way I think a quick game plan is in order.  My hope is to buy small units, probably one per month, and get the painting finished before moving on to the next one.  Too that end I already have a unit of corsairs, let’s face it the models kick ass.
That’s enough for now.  I will post shortly with some pics about the initial set up and ideas on colour schemes

  1. Nice post Gragwaz! Looking forward to seeing some pics of it all. I'm going to try and get some "before" pics of both my armies up this weekend.
